Vase for the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM) Berlin, Germany | Designed in 1932, made between 1962 and 1992
Heart-shaped body, porcelain, white, glazed
Trude Petri was searching for the optimal connection between form and function for a vase. This resulted in her design of this heart shape for KPM Berlin in 1932. The Hamburg painter, designer and sculptor was recruited to KPM Berlin as early as 1929 after studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. In 1936 and 1937, she won the gold medal at the Triennale in Milan and the Grand Prix at the World Exhibition in Paris for her Urbino dinner service. On the occasion of the 100th birthday of Trude Petri and Siegmund Schütz, an anniversary exhibition was held at the Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin at the end of 2006.
