Desk lamp executed by BAG Turgi, Switzerland | Designed around 1933
Top reflector and lampstand made from black lacquered metal, lamp arm from black lacquered wood, new wire
The model presented is a variant of the famous Karl Trabert desk lamp, produced by Schanzenbach & Co in the early 1930s in Frankfurt / Main, Germany. This elegant variant was executed by Switzerland's Bronzewarenfabrik AG Turgi. Still in 1960, it was shown in the catalogue of Swiss Werkbund „Wohnen heute 3“, product no. 42 007. Its avantgardistic design stands for the aesthetic of modernism as taught by Bauhaus. Fiell attribute this variant to Trabert and highlight his regular interaction with the German avantgarde.
