Open Studio: Understatement im Untergrund

Challenging times spark creative forces. This was already proven in the 1920s and early 1930s. Back then, the costume jewelry collection by Jakob Bengel made design history with modest materials, vibrant colors, and clean shapes. At the same time, a French designer skillfully responded to the resource shortages following the Great Depression with his furniture designs. 

Nearly a hundred years later, these themes remain relevant. This is evident in objects that a contemporary Swiss designer has brought back to life. You can discover all of this at Enthusiastic Approval in the basement of the Maintower. And if you fall in love with something, you can even buy it. These pieces are definitely vintage, not mainstream.
